Raging Blast has the perfect balance of when to use both close and ranged combat and it does this by having the fighters start with little accumulated ki, meaning that there is a few options immediately when the fight starts, either charge ki hoping that your opponent does the same and engage in long range combat from the start or charge in for close range combat immediately and build ki by landing blows.īoth games feature faithful recreations of the moves featured throughout the series which make the player feel a sense of nostalgia if they have watched the show and if they haven’t seen the show they still feel good because the animations look great. With this amount of characters the random button is actually useful and will almost always lead to new teams you wont have seen before.Īs I have previously said the Raging Blast series captures the raw essence of Dragon Ball and as we all know Dragon Ball is a show about punching things and shooting energy beams at the things too strong to punch. The roster of Raging Blast 1 is a fairly standard affair, however the roster of Raging Blast 2 is very impressive, featuring 66 characters not including variants, transformations and upgraded/custom set characters. Lets break it down even further now though. The reason I am grouping these games together is because Raging Blast 2 is just the natural extension of Raging Blast 1, not many new mechanics when it comes to gameplay, anything 1 has 2 does it better. A good camera that manages to follow the action while also positioning itself in such a way that hides certain enemy moves allowing for surprising engagements. They manage to capture the raw essence that is Dragon Ball. The fact of the matter is Raging Blast 1 and 2 are the best two Dragon Ball Z games ever created.
